The Capsa Ungere, also known as the Capsa, is a technology developed by Griddish to ignite a Slipshot portal.
Function[]
The Capsa Ungere is a small, oval shaped object that is held between the thumb and forefinger. When the bearer wants to open a Slipshot portal, they would squeeze the Capsa and toss it on the ground. A plasmic arc would then ignite the portal so that the bearer could pass through.
A Capsa will only work in the presence of the Slipshot Silo or while inside a Perispike Dome. If the bearer is near a Slipshot Silo, they would squeeze and toss the Capsa near the point of convergence. The Capsa would open and a plasmic arc would strike the Silo, thereby starting the initialization process.
If the bearer is inside a Perispike Dome, they need only toss the Capsa near the center. After the Capsa opens, a plasmic arc will strike the inner apex of the dome, thereby causing a portal to open.
Appearance[]
The Capsa is a small, oval shaped object that can fit between the thumb and forefinger of its bearer. It's color is blue but can also be white. A thin band, which binds the two ends together runs along its center circumference.
Use[]
The Capsa has been used by Slaves and Engineers. It is one of the few Griddish technologies that do not require the bearer to be connected to the Tenddrome. The Capsa is used throughout the Slipshot series, as it enables the bearer to cross from Griddish to the Vars and back again.
Rive reached for the small, oval shaped Capsa, squeezed it, and tossed it onto the ground. An electric arc reached towards the apex of the dome. In the center of the dome, a dark vertical line formed and then spread apart, revealing a black hole. The air inside the Perispike barrier smelled of burning metal.
And again, by Opal Fremmitty.
“Ever seen a Capsa do its work, Freddy?” A cat-like grin spread across Opal’s face. “You should have seen it when you were spying on those assholes Matere and Betel. You try anything, and I will not hesitate to rip one open right here and now. Trust me, it’ll suck both you and your girlfriend inside. You won't know where you'll land, or when, or maybe not at all. You ever been inside a Slipshot, Fredrick? Want to know how it feels? No, you don't. I've been trained all my life, and I still hate them.”
